ONLY 4 Steps to Certification

LG Candidates must be at least 15 years old by their last class testing date.

Please, review the Pre-Test requirements (Step 3) and be prepared. Students who cannot pass the Pre-Test will be deferred to a future class.

  • Step 1 – Register with THE Pool Trainers

    Complete the registration process and payment with THE Pool Trainers and receive your online access to the online learning portion of the class.

  • Step 2 – Complete the Online Learning certificate on the Red Cross website (Allow 8+ Hours)

    Complete 8+ hours of the self-paced, online learning portion of the course on your own. 


    Must be completed in advance of the Live Sessions.

  • Step 3 - Pre-Test (1.5 Hours)- Day 1

    Must Successfully Complete 3 Physical Skills Tests to Continue into Course **


    1.  300 yards continuous swim freestyle or breaststroke (sidestroke and backstroke are not allowed)

    2.  Two minutes treading water using only legs

    3.  Complete this timed event within 1minute and 40 seconds

    • in water start, swim 20 yards; no goggles
    • surface dive to 10 feet deep, retrieve 10-pound dive brick
    • return to the surface, swim the 20 yards back with both hands on the brick;
    • (keeping face at or near surface so can breathe, not underwater)
    • exit water without ladder or steps

    Students who pass this Pre-Test will continue on to Day 2 and Day 3 live sessions. Students who cannot pass the Pre-Test will be deferred to a future class.

  • Step 4 – Attend ALL of the 2-day (Day 2 and Day 3) Live Sessions and satisfactorily pass all In-Water and Out-of-Water, Skills Training, Video Review, Scenarios, and Written Exam (8+ Hours/Day)

3 Steps to Certification

LG Candidates must be at least 15 years old by their last class testing date

  • Step 1 - Pre-Test & Registration (1 Hour)

SAFETY TRAINING FOR SWIM COACHES 

& CPR/FIRST AID/AED


Required for all USA Swimming coaches.

Great training for all other aquatics coaches – High School, College, Masters, Summer Leagues, and all other non-USA Swimming clubs, etc.



This is a Blended Learning Course:

  • 3 hours online for the STSC Class portion (you register directly with the Red Cross for $25)
  • 3 hours online for the CPR/First Aid/AED portion 
  • 3 hours in Person (1.5 for the STSC Skils and 1.5 for the CPR/First Aid/AED skills and Exam)


Fee: $195/student

Each class needs a minimum of 6 participants & max class size is limited.
